Roma vs Chelsea team news: Antonio Conte to make late N'Golo Kante call

Antonio Conte will confer with midfielder N'Golo Kante before deciding whether to recall him against Roma.

Kante has not played for Chelsea since suffering a hamstring injury while playing for France earlier this month.

However, the influential Chelsea star returned to training last week and has travelled with the senior squad to the Italian capital for Tuesday night's Champions League clash.

Chelsea have sorely missed Kante, conceding eight goals in four matches before finally keeping a clean sheet against Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Blues also face a huge Premier League game at home to Manchester United on Sunday so Conte is wary about taking risks.

He said: "I think it's very important, in this moment, to speak with the player and then see his sensation.

"I was a player and you know very well that, after an injury, above all a muscular problem - a bad injury - it's very important to listen to the player and what are his sensations and then make the best decision for him, for the team. For sure, tomorrow, we'll try and make the best decision.”

Chelsea were fortunate to draw 3-3 with Roma, who are only two points behind them in Group C, at Stamford Bridge a fortnight ago.

Defeat here and a win for Atletico Madrid over Qarabag will see their hopes of reaching the last 16 put at risk.

Such is the significance of this encounter, Conte is not really thinking about the challenge Manchester United will present at the weekend.

He added: “There are two big games before the international break, against Roma tomorrow and then United on Sunday. For us, for sure, two big games.

"But I like to repeat that the most important thing is to go game by game. The most important game is tomorrow, against Roma.

"Which will be the final result? I don't know. But we have to put all ourselves to try and get a good result. That will be really important, a good result. And then we must try and prepare for another tough game against United in the League."
