Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet is “not actively seeking to sell” the club despite relegation and the protests against him.

Supporters are planning another large demonstration at Saturday’s home game against Burnley in the hope of forcing Duchatelet out of The Valley.

The Belgian has always insisted he has no intention of selling up and that stance has not changed despite Charlton’s drop from the Championship.

Chief executive Katrien Meire and chairman Richard Murray met the Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust last week and told them Duchatelet is “well aware of the level of discontent” among fans.

But Meire and Murray said Duchatelet has no plans to sell the club as he prepares for next season in League One.

The Supporters’ Club said in a statement: “We stated our position that it would be in everyone’s best interest for Mr Duchatelet to take urgent steps to find a new owner for the club.

“In response Ms Meire and Mr Murray said that Mr Duchatelet was well aware of the level of discontent but that he was not actively seeking to sell the club.”

Another fans’ group, the Coalition Against Roland Duchatelet, have staged demonstrations at recent games but said they did not want to get the match, where Burnley could seal the Championship title, abandoned.
