Swansea City have completed the signing of Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster on loan until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has found first-team opportunities limited at Anfield since debuting in a 2-0 League Cup victory over MK Dons back in September.

And so Jurgen Klopp has allowed him to secure a temporary departure to the Championship, where it is hoped he will pick up vital experience.

Bristol City and Leeds United were also keen to sign up Brewster, who top scored as England won the U17 World Cup in 2017.

However, it was felt that Swansea could offer more regular playing time under former Reds academy coach Steve Cooper.

Brewster has been part of the senior setup at Liverpool since sustaining a serious ankle and knee injury after an awkward fall during an U23s game two years ago.

During his lengthy lay-off, the London-born striker was subject to strong interest from Borussia Monchengladbach, but turned down overtures from the German club in order to pen fresh terms on Merseyside.

And, since completing his rehabilitation at Melwood, Brewster has trained full-time alongside the first team.

The only teenager’s development has been impeded by a failure to earn a place in Klopp’s first-choice line-up, while competition in attack has been strengthened by the January signing of Takumi Minamino.

However, it is hoped that a promising loan stint in Wales will prime Brewster to return in pre-season and challenge for his place.
