Real Madrid have a slight edge over Barcelona when LaLiga resumes because of their bigger squad, Los Blancos legend Pirri believes.

Zinedine Zidane's side trail their rivals by two points with 11 rounds remaining, with all of those fixtures to take place in the space of just 39 days when the competition returns next week following a lengthy break due to coronavirus.

"Playing so many games in a row benefits Real Madrid because I think they have a better squad than Barcelona," the former midfielder told Radio Marca.

And Pirri, who won 10 league titles for Los Blancos in a career spent almost entirely at the Santiago Bernabeu after moving from Granada, claims this is a fresh chance for his former club.

"This is like starting a new season and Real Madrid have a really good and deep squad, a better one than Barcelona," he said.

Madrid's first game after the break will be at home to Eibar at the Estadio Aldredo Di Stefano on June 14, with renovation work ongoing at the Bernabeu.
