Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been put through his paces for the first time at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground after his £56million move from Borussia Dortmund.

Aubameyang took to the pitch on his own on Thursday morning having put the finishing touches on his transfer yesterday.

The Arsenal squad were not due in for training on Thursday, though Arsene Wenger made the journey to Colney to work with his record signing, but the club were keen to familiarise Aubameyang with his new home before a potential debut against Everton on Saturday.

Wenger is expected to confirm tomorrow what role, if any, Aubameyang will play in the match though the manager is often reluctant to throw new additions straight into the side before they have had a run of training sessions with their new team-mates.

“I'm really happy I'm here,” Aubameyang told the club website. “And of course I can join Mhki [Henrikh Mkhitaryan] at the club so I'm happy to be here in this great team.”

He added: “The club have such a big history of great players like Thierry Henry. It's an example for us strikers.”
