Pedro Rodriguez has admitted he found it "weird" seeing himself in a Chelsea shirt for the first time following his move to the Blues from Barcelona this summer while also revealing he will miss former teammate Lionel Messi.

Chelsea secured the services of the Spain World Cup winner in August after Pedro decided to leave the Camp Nou following 11 years at Barcelona in search of regular playing time.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho handed the 28-year-old his debut against West Brom just days after he arrived, and Pedro did not disappoint as he went on to score a goal and set up another in a 3-2 away victory.

But the winger has now revealed wearing a Chelsea shirt for the first time felt "weird" and also admitted he would miss Messi after playing alongside the four-time Ballon d'Or winner for most of his Barcelona career.

"I will miss Messi so much," Pedro told Spanish publication El Pais. "He's a great teammate, a great guy. We've lived a lot of things together, a lot of matches, a lot of goals. He knows me well.

"It felt weird, seeing myself with Chelsea’s shirt, and imagining playing and not finding Messi, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets or Andres Iniesta on the pitch.

"Fortunately I continue to enjoy them in the national team."

Pedro looked set to join Manchester United this summer before Chelsea came in and wrapped up a deal for the 28-year-old at the last minute, with the Blues' negotiations later being described as being completed "like a lightning bolt" by the player's agent.

Pedro also revealed that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and his Spain compatriot Cesc Fabregas were the main reasons why he decided to swap Spain for England, and the winger has now admitted it was former Barcelona midfielder Fabregas who set the wheels in motion with his transfer.

"I think Barcelona didn't want to sell me," he said.

"It all started with a phone call from Cesc Fabregas. Then Mourinho calls me and I had to make a decision. He made me feel important, he gave me confidence."
