Parish faces up to errors over Dougie Freedman loss

Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish admits he made a mistake in the way he handled former boss Dougie Freedman and insists he won’t make the same errors with Ian Holloway.

Freedman, who was out of contract at the end of the season, joined Bolton in October despite Palace challenging for promotion.

Reflecting on Freedman’s departure, he said: “There were things I could have done differently. I could have gone to Dougie [with a new contract] sooner, I certainly didn’t want him to go. I’ve looked back on all the conversations we had and asked myself, ‘was I complacent about him going?’. You live and learn and maybe I’ll do it differently next time.”
