Pardew warns Spurs off Andy Carroll

Target: Spurs have been linked with a bid for Newcastle striker Andy Carroll

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has warned Tottenham and any other potential suitors off a move for England striker Andy Carroll.

Carroll has put aside a turbulent season off the field by scoring 10 goals this season in Newcastle's impressive start to life back in the Barclays Premier League.

That has led to not just an international debut but also speculation over the 21-year-old's future. North London has been mentioned as a possible destination - but Pardew insists the player is going nowhere.

"It does get boring but it is not going to stop - it will never stop," he said.

"It will not stop simply because he's a talent and that happens at the big clubs. We have to have a big-club mentality and hold on to our best players.

"It just goes to show you his value at the moment. Andy just has to keep working hard and doing what he does best. His career path is here.

"He has already proved that playing for Newcastle United will not hinder his international career, so why does he need to go? He loves it here and loves the fans - long may it continue."
