Chelsea midfielder Oscar believes the Blues have performed better in pre-season when utilising a 4-3-3 formation than the 4-2-4 that new manager Antonio Conte has tested out this summer.

The Italian coach is known to be a fan of using different tactical systems, with Conte starting off pre-season experimenting with a 4-2-4 set-up before employing a 4-3-3 towards the end of their friendly win over Milan and then against Werder Bremen on Sunday.

Oscar thrived in those two games, scoring twice in the 3-1 win over Milan before netting another in the 4-2 victory over Werder, and the Brazilian believes the 4-3-3 formation suits his and indeed Chelsea's strengths well.

"I think we have played better with the 4-3-3 than when we have played 4-2-4, but we have two formations and always we try our best," Oscar told Chelsea's official website.

"I like playing in a 4-3-3 because I can score more goals, and also create more and tackle in midfield which I like to do to help the team.

"In the last two games I have scored three goals so I am feeling good, we are ready and now we are all just looking forward to starting the season."

Despite tinkering with tactics since his arrival at Chelsea, Conte admitted during his first press conference that he will use the formation that best suits his team's strengths rather than go with one that he prefers.

Speaking in July, the 46-year-old said: "I am searching for the best position for the players. In Italy, I like to say the coach is like a tailor that he must build the best dress for the team and you have to respect their characteristics. You must respect their abilities.

"In the past, I started my time at clubs with one idea but then I changed. Three at the back is not important - the spirit is important."
