Neymar on PSG collapse against Man City: ‘We lost the battle but the war continues’

PSG star Neymar says his team "lost the battle but the war continues" after Manchester City came from behind to win Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg.

The French giants started brightly in Parish and soon went ahead as returning captain Marquinhos headed home Angel Di Maria's corner, with City struggling to assert themselves.

However, Pep Guardola's side were transformed in the second half and came roaring back with two fortuitous - but deserved - goals.

Kevin De Bruyne's deep free kick evaded all to spin inside Keylor Navas's far post before Riyad Mahrez's free kick flew through the PSG wall and beyond the goalkeeper.

Neymar, whose performance was hailed on Twitter by the likes of Jack Grealish and James Maddison, posted on Instagram afterwards: "We lost the battle but the war continues.

"I believe in my team, I believe that we can be better than we were. Allez Paris. 1% fortune, 99% faith."

City and PSG meet at the Etihad next Tuesday for a spot in the Champions League final.
