Tottenham insist replacing 15,000 faulty seats will not further delay the opening of their new stadium.

The club have been forced to rip out the seats following a blunder from the contractors who installed them but they insist the setback is not a major cause for concern.

Most of the faulty seats have already been replaced and Tottenham say the problem will not cause an extra delay to their move to the 62,000-capacity venue.

Spurs have already had to switch their first Premier League home fixture next season to Wembley.

They are due to play Liverpool in the first match at their new £850million stadium on September 15 and Tottenham are against the clock, with test events due to start in two months’ time.

A spokesman for the club said today: “All seats affected are being swiftly replaced and it will not have any impact on the scheduling of our operational test events that are due to commence at the start of August or our first home fixture in our new stadium against Liverpool.”
