Michail Antonio delighted to 'put smiles on kids' faces' during West Ham's Christmas visit to Newham University Hospital

Michail Antonio was among the West Ham players to take time out of the club's preparations for the busy festive fixture list with a visit to an east London hospital this week.

Antonio joined his teammates Winston Reid, Ashley Fletcher, Adrian, Pedro Obiang and Simone Zaza at Newham University Hospital on Tuesday as the West Ham players handed out gifts to children receiving treatment in the West Ham ward.

The players chatted with the kids, signed autographs, took photos and gave the children club merchandise, including West Ham teddy bears, while their teammates Mark Noble, Darren Randolph, Havard Nordtveit and Andy Carroll went to the Richard House hospice in east London on a similar Christmas visit.

"I've got kids myself so putting a smile on children's faces is one thing I enjoy," Antonio told Standard Sport.

"It's special. No one wants to be in hospital over Christmas so it's nice to do."
