Aaron Ramsey has been ruled out of the Wales squad for matches against Azerbaijan and Belarus, with Manchester United youngster Dylan Levitt drafted in as his replacement.

The Football Association of Wales announced the news of Ramsey's withdrawal on Tuesday, though no reason was given.

Levitt steps up from the Under-21 squad to replace the Juventus midfielder.

Ramsey missed Juventus' season opener with Parma after a summer of recovering from the hamstring injury which prematurely ended his Arsenal career.

He did play 15 minutes of a pre-season friendly against Triestina, however, but his first-team debut remains pending.

18-year-old Levitt is a Manchester United academy player who was called up to train with the senior squad at the end of last season, with a call-up to Wales' training camp in Portugal following.

He signed his first professional contract with the Red Devils in 2018 and plays for Neil Wood's Under-23s.

"I have spoken to [former head of United's academy] Nicky Butt about him a few times, seen him a few times live on TV and in person," Wales boss Ryan Giggs said of Levitt in May.

"He impressed me last week and that is why he is in the squad."
