Marcus Rashford's desire to succeed at Manchester United is so great that the striker sometimes needs to be 'dragged off' the training pitch, according to his mentor Ashley Young.

Rashford scored a superb goal to put his side 2-0 up in the Premier League contest at Old Trafford and caused the Seagulls plenty of other problems as United's perfect start under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer extended to a seventh win in all competitions.

The 21-year-old England international, who expertly turned away from Pascal Gross before curling a fine shot into the top corner, has netted five times in six league matches following the Norwegian's appointment in December.

Rashford's form earned praise from Solskjaer, who tipped the youngster to challenge for the honour of being recognised as the Premier League's top striker in the absence of the injured Harry Kane.

Solskjaer also believes Rashford has the talent to reach the level of United legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, and the forward's team-mate Young sees enough desire from the 21-year-old in training to keep improving.

"Marcus just wants to learn," Young said on Saturday. "He's on the training pitch all the time and at times you have to drag him off, because he just wants to be out there.

"He wants to learn and that is a good thing to see in a youngster now

"It's fantastic to see, he's got that hunger, that desire, he's a winner, and when you come through the Academy here, you've got that in abundance and you can see that when he goes out on the pitch every day here."

As for Rashford's fine goal against Brighton, Young added: "The finish was unbelievable.

"I think he was actually off-balance but the way he finished it was superb and it's a sight for us back players to see, the forwards running at defenders like that. I wouldn't want to see him running at me like that! We get that in training.

"It's a tough job there [up front], but as long as they keep scoring, there's great competition for places, and that's what you've got to do – you've got to earn your money and go out there and produce, and he's been doing that."
