How Man Utd tactics are helping Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford 'terrorise' teams

Anthony Martial believes that while he and Marcus Rashford want to play in the same position for Manchester United, that competitive streak can help the players drive the club forward.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made Martial United's main striker this season, with the France international handed back his former number nine shirt following the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan.

United did not sign another out-and-out forward this summer, and with Alexis Sanchez set to follow Lukaku to Inter, the pressure will be on Martial and Rashford to find the back of the net regularly.

Martial has been deployed through the middle with Rashford on the left in United's first two games of the Premier League season, and both have scored twice.

Rashford netted a brace in the 4-0 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford - one from the penalty spot and another breaking through the centre onto a Paul Pogba through-ball - while Martial scored a poacher's finish inside the six-yard box.

Martial followed that up with a fine finish in United's 1-1 draw at Wolves on Monday night, and the 23-year-old thinks that his ability to switch positions with Rashford is a positive for the Red Devils.

"At training, we have this competition between us about scoring goals," Martial told Sky Sports.

"We measure who does the best finishing and who scores the most.

"Who's winning? Well, that depends... sometimes it's him, sometimes it's me.

"In games, Marcus likes to play in the middle, like me.

"I don't mind dropping off, dropping out, we interchange during games.

"It doesn't bother me to let him take the lead occasionally.

"It helps us to terrorise opposition defences and I hope we can keep it up over the course of the season."
