Man City bid for global domination continues with purchase of Chinese club Sichuan Jiuniu
Man City’s bid for global domination has moved a step closer with the purchase of Chinese club Sichuan Jiuniu.
The China League Two side have become seventh to be owned by City Football Group – joining New York City FC, Melbourne City, Yokohama F Marinos, Club Atletico Torque and FC Girona.
City claim they will use the link up to develop talent in the Far East.
Chief executive officer Ferran Soriano said: “China is an extremely important football market, which we have been focused on for some time.
“We believe strongly in the future of football in China. We are making a long-term, sustainable commitment to grow and develop Sichuan Jiuniu FC and to nurture Chinese footballing talent.
“These objectives are equally important. Our immediate focus will be strengthening our football performance, using all of our experience and know-how, forging a strong relationship with our fans and building a strong presence in the community. We cannot wait to get started.”

Sichuan, based in Chengdu, have been bought in partnership with technology firm UBTECH and China Sports Capital.
City sold a 13 percent of the CFG to China Media Capital in 2015 worth £265m.
They have opened offices in Shanghai and Shenzen and founded a youth academy in Beijing.
