AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has denied reports that the Italian club are close to signing Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

The Belgium international joined the Red Devils from Everton for £27.5m two years ago and has started just five Premier League games this season.

The 27-year-old was recently reported to have emerged as a loan target for Milan, who are currently seventh in the Serie A table but have aspirations to qualify for next season's Champions League.

But Galliani has now categorically ruled out a move for Fellaini - and any other player - as Milan will not sign anyone unless a member of the current squad leaves the San Siro first.

"Fellaini is a player I like, I have always liked him, but there is no way he is joining AC Milan," Galliani told Mediaset Premium.

"I can only deny that Fellaini is close to Milan. We already have seven players in midfield. If nobody leaves in that area, we will not sign anyone.

"We are well stocked in all areas. It is very unlikely we will make any signings unless someone leaves."

Fellaini has scored one goal in 10 top flight appearances this season and failed to secure a regular place in Louis van Gaal's starting line up.
