Jose Mourinho aims dig at Chelsea as Romelu Lukaku joins 'biggest club' Manchester United

Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to get back at Chelsea after some rough treatment from Blues fans last season, and the Manchester United manager was at it again as the Red Devils unveiled Romelu Lukaku.

United put a huge dent in Antonio Conte's summer transfer plans as they stole a march on the Premier League champions by signing their long-term target from Everton on Monday in a deal worth over £75million.

Lukaku wasted no time in suggesting that he could not refuse a move to Old Trafford, telling his doubters: "Who would say no to the biggest club in the world?"

Mourinho is also of the opinion that United - who finished a lowly sixth last season as Chelsea won the title in Conte's debut season in England - is the right club for the Belgium international.

"Romelu is a natural fit for Manchester United," he told United's official website. "He is a big personality and a big player.

"It is only natural that he wants to develop his career at the biggest club.

"He will be a great addition to the group and I know they will make him very welcome.

"I am really looking forward to working with him again."

Lukaku's decision to snub a return to Chelsea comes as something of a surprise given the Mourinho was the man who sold him while at Chelsea in 2014, but the striker is determined to ensure that their second spell together is more successful.

"I would like to start by thanking Everton and the fans for the last four wonderful seasons, I have made some special friends and we have shared some amazing moments," Lukaku said.

"However, when Manchester United and Jose Mourinho come knocking at the door it is an opportunity of a lifetime and one that I could not turn down.

"You could see the fight, determination and the spirit in this team during the Europa League final and I want to become a part of that.

"I cannot wait to run out at Old Trafford in front of 75,000 fans but before that pre-season is where the hard work starts and I am looking forward to that first training session."
