Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has announced that he and charity FareShare have reached their financial target to supply three million meals to vulnerable people across the UK.

The 22-year-old initially set a goal of raising £100,000 and feeding 400,000 children after partnering with the food poverty and waste charity back in April.

The England international has since vastly surpassed that target, however, with over £20m raised.

Rashford - who announced he had made a further donation just last week - was in May recognised by the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, Eamonn O’Neal, for "outstanding activity and contribution to the community".

But the excellent work won't stop there, with Rashford pledging not to stop until "no child in the UK has to worry about where their next meal is coming from".

"Guys, I have AMAZING news!! We had a goal that by [sic] end of June FareShare would be able to supply 3 million meals to vulnerable people across the UK," Rashford wrote on Twitter on Thursday evening.

"TODAY we have met the financial goal to provide these meals. Thank you all SO much for the support.

"And whilst I’m celebrating this, there is SO much more to do. Trust me when I say, I will keep fighting until no child in the UK has to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

"This is England in 2020 and families need help."

Rashford is currently preparing for a trip to Tottenham on June 19 as United's Premier League season gets back underway.

The forward - scorer of 14 goals in 22 games to date this term - has now recovered from a long-term back injury and will look to spearhead United's attack as they chase down fourth-placed Chelsea.
