Manchester United match-winner Bruno Fernandes has revealed how Edinson Cavani helped him beat Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson with his free kick.

An entertaining 3-2 win at Old Trafford, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first over Liverpool as United manager, was a far cry from last weekend's goalless league draw.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for Liverpool, only for goals from Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford to turn the tie on its head.

Salah brought Jurgen Klopp's men level but Fernandes' 78th-minute free-kick sealed victory for United, 12 minutes after he came on.

Fernandes fired the ball past Alisson and into the far bottom corner and says Cavani's advice was key.

"I work a lot on these kind of goals, free-kicks," he told BBC Sport.

"I tried, this one was good. Before the free-kick, Edinson Cavani told me, 'Try the hard one on the side of the keeper'. I tried it and it went well."
