Alisson Becker believes Liverpool must stop conceding 'stupid goals' as soon as possible if they are to achieve their ambitions this season.

While Jurgen Klopp's side sit six points clear at the top of the Premier League and remain on track to qualify from their Champions League group, they have found clean sheets hard to come by so far this season.

Only three of the Reds' 18 matches in all competitions this term have ended with the opposition failing to find the back of the net.

And Alisson says he and his team-mates are only making things harder for themselves by failing to concentrate fully across the 90 minutes.

He said: "It annoys me always when we concede stupid goals. This annoys my teammates also because when we [go] to the pitch we always have a common goal, which is to win the game and keep the clean sheet.

"When you keep the clean sheet you are closer to the victory, at least you have a draw. So I think we can work better on that aspect and I think when you concede a goal in a difficult moment, the games become more difficult.

"So we need to work better on that if we want to do great things this season.

"Sometimes you have [to accept] the quality of the opponent and when they score with quality and you cannot do nothing different it is okay, you need to accept that, it is part of the game.

"But I think we can do better with the concentration aspect. For example, against Genk we conceded a goal in the 85th minute and this annoyed me and all the team because you need to keep focused to [achieve] your goals.

"If you are winning by one goal and you concede in that moment, the game is pretty much finished, you cannot do anything different, you don’t have much time.

"We need to learn from these moments to make sure it doesn't happen again."

Klopp's search for more clean sheets was recently dealt a blow by the loss of defender Joel Matip to a knee problem.

But, while Alisson was happy to acknowledge the centre-half's importance, he has faith that Dejan Lovren is a more than capable stand-in.

He continued: "We are not a weak side when he is not playing but yeah we miss him. He is a very good player, a player that helps us a lot last season winning the Champions League, a player that gives us confidence in the aerial duels.

"But I think Dejan is doing really, really good when he is playing. We also have Joe [who] is a top player also, he is young and has the potential to become a top player.

"We miss [Matip] but we are as strong as when we have him."
