Having watched new signing Adrian save the decisive spot-kick in the Uefa Super Cup penalty shootout victory over Chelsea, Jurgen Klopp simply couldn't contain his emotions.

The Spaniard, who was snapped on a free transfer just nine days ago by the Reds after leaving West Ham, was drafted in to the first team following Alisson's calf injury against Norwich.

On his full debut, the 32-year-old pulled off a number of important saves before giving away a penalty to allow Chelsea back into the match in extra-time.

But Adrian soon made amends, saving the decisive kick after Tammy Abraham struck straight down the middle as Liverpool prevailed 5-4 in the shootout.

And Klopp, wearing all of his passion on his sleeve, could not hide his delight with goalkeeper Adrian. In his post-match interview with BT Sport, the German showed just how grateful he was to the stopper with a meme-worthy moment.

"What a story! ADDRRRIIAAN," Klopp exclaimed after sprinting onto the pitch to celebrate with his team, mimicking Sylvester Stallone's famous cry as Rocky Balboa.

Klopp continued: "Wonderful story, he's really loud in the dressing room already! The Spanish emotions... it's so nice for him.

"He played an important part in this game, not just the penalties. I'm really happy for the boys.

Virgil van Dijk said of Adrian's intervention: "I told Adrian before penalties he could be the hero tonight and he did it so I'm happy for him and for the club."
