Curtis Jones dedicated his Liverpool goal against Sheffield United to Alisson Becker’s late father following a “difficult” time for the club.

Liverpool returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Sunday night.

The champions left out goalkeeper Alisson on compassionate grounds following the death of his father Jose in Brazil earlier this week.

The Liverpool players wore black armbands in support of Alisson as Adrian made his first Premier League appearance since the Merseyside derby at Everton on October 17.

Jones dedicated his goal to Alisson and his late father in an emotional post-match interview.

The midfielder told Sky Sports: “It’s been a difficult time for myself and the rest of the team.

“I’d like to take this time to say that this goal is for Ali’s dad. May he rest in peace and if Ali sees this, this is for you bro.”
