Mikel Arteta is “expecting some activity” at Arsenal during the January transfer window.

The Gunners are currently not expected to spend big, but some loan deals could well be on the cards.

Roma are interested in signing midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who is keen to get more first-team football.

Striker Folarin Balogun is also likely to leave on loan, with Championship clubs leading the race to sign him.

Defender Sead Kolasinac is another who could be on the move as Watford are urgently looking to bring in a new left-back.

The Bosnian is into the final six months of his deal and is open to staying in the Premier League.

“We’re expecting some activity,” said Arteta.

“There are a few players, a few loans that we will have to complete but it depends. As we all know it is a complicated market and a short window so we will see what happens.”
