Leyton Orient captain Liam Kelly has been banned for six games after being found guilty of an FA charge of violent conduct.
Kelly appeared to be involved in an altercation with a ball boy during his side's League Two game against Plymouth Argyle on February 14.
The 27-year-old seemed to push the ball boy to the floor in an incident which was missed by the match official but subsequently picked up by television cameras.
Kelly denied the charge but will miss the east Londoners' next six games after the standard punishment was deemed to be insufficient by an Independent Regulatory Commission.
An FA statement read: "Leyton Orient’s Liam Kelly has been suspended for six matches with immediate effect following the game at Plymouth Argyle on 14 February 2017.
"It was alleged he committed an act of violent conduct in the 86th minute which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video, contrary to FA Rule E3.
"Furthermore, The FA claimed that the standard punishment for the offence would be clearly insufficient.
"The player denied both the charge and the claim, however, following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing on Friday evening (17 February 2017), the case in respect of the charge of violent conduct was found proven.
"Furthermore, the Regulatory Commission considered the standard penalty to be insufficient and ordered he serve an additional three-match suspension, resulting in six matches in total."
Kelly will miss League Two games against Notts County, Cheltenham Town, Stevenage, Newport County, Grimsby Town and Accrington Stanley in what is a blow to Orient's survival hopes.
Danny Webb's side are currently languishing in 23rd place and are in danger of dropping out of the Football League.
