Eden Hazard was the surprise hero of Leicester’s title celebrations on Monday after the Chelsea winger’s equaliser against Tottenham, and the former player of the year must have been glad he didn’t pop round to Jamie Vardy’s house after the game.

Christian Fuchs was among the Leicester players celebrating a 2-2 draw that handed the title to his side and he has revealed that he “could have kissed” Hazard after his 83rd minute equaliser.

Though Claudio Ranieri’s side missed out on the chance to win the title on Sunday, when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Manchester United, the Leicester squad were reunited little over 24 hours later to watch Spurs battle to stay in the hunt for top spot.

Spurs held a two goal advantage at half-time but second half strikes from Gary Cahill and, in a manner all too rarely seen at Stamford Bridge this season, Hazard ensured Tottenham could not pick up the three points they needed.

It sent the Vardy household into delirium, as Fuchs relayed to talkSPORT.

“The spirit is so important,” he said. “You saw so many videos of us celebrating together at Jamie Vardy’s house – it’s not normal that all the players, with no exceptions, are coming together to watch the game and then celebrate together.

“It was an outstanding moment when the final whistle blew and – oh my god, it was insane! We were watching it as a team at Jamie Vardy’s house and I must admit I couldn’t sit still, I didn’t know whether to sit or stand! It was an exciting game and even with Tottenham 2-0 up I still believed something was possible.

“The goal from Hazard, he played great. I could kiss him after that goal!”

Hazard has endured a frustrating season at Stamford Bridge after the 2015 PFA Players’ Player of the Year was the star man in Chelsea’s title triumph.

However three goals in his last two games have helped the forward “rediscover his pleasure” in playing football and Hazard has vowed to wrestle the title back from Leicester’s grasp next season.

He said: “Congratulations to them [Leicester], they deserve it. It’s footballing history. We had something similar at Lille a few years ago when we weren’t the favourites but we won the title.

“It’s something beautiful for the world of football when a smaller team does something like that. Next season I hope we can have a better season and get the title back.”
