Juventus won't block Alex Sandro January transfer if Chelsea target asks to leave, says club chief

Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has said the club will not force Chelsea target Alex Sandro to stay if he wants to leave in January, but insists no offers for the left-back have arrived yet.

Sandro, 26, was one of the players Chelsea coach Antonio Conte is believed to have wanted to sign last summer but the Brazilian did not end up moving to Stamford Bridge, although he continues to be linked to the west London side.

Sandro would provide Conte with adequate cover for the left wing-back role, which is occupied regularly only by Marcos Alonso and, in the Cup competitions, Kenedy.

But while saying that Juventus will not get in Sandro's way should he ask to leave in this transfer window, Marotta said no clubs have tabled any offers for the defender yet.

"Juventus’ policy is that if a player asks to leave, we won’t hold him back," Marotta told RAI.

"We know there’s interest from big clubs in Alex Sandro, but at the moment there are no negotiations."
