Gabriel Jesus has addressed his hamstring injury following Arsenal’s win over Sevilla in the Champions League.

The Gunners got back on track in Europe after the defeat to Lens earlier this month, running out 2-1 winners in Seville to go top of Group B.

Having played their two hardest games on paper in Lens and Sevilla away, Arsenal look increasingly likely to reach the knockout stages of Europe’s elite competition for the first time since 2017.

Striker Jesus played a key role in the victory, teeing up compatriot Gabriel Martinelli with a fine turn and scoring the second before the hosts pulled one back. The former Manchester City striker, however, was forced off late in the game.

Mikel Arteta has been unable to field last year’s first-choice frontline of Jesus, Martinelli and Bukayo Saka often this season with both Brazilian internationals injured at different points this season.

The Arsenal boss hailed his striker’s “match-winning performance” in Spain and admitted his injury “was not good news”. Arteta’s side take on Sheffield United this weekend but face a huge clash away at Newcastle at the start of November, while they also must navigate a Carabao Cup tie away at West Ham.

After the game, Jesus told TNT Sports: “I felt something. Let’s see. I did some tests with the physio, it looks not that big, but let’s see. I have a scan, maybe tomorrow. I’m pretty sure it will be nothing.”
