Former Arsenal full-back Jernade Meade believes he will get his chance for first-team football under Swansea manager Michael Laudrup, adding that the Danish boss is 'not afraid' to offer inexperienced youngsters their break.
The 20-year-old has signed a one-year deal at the Liberty Stadium after his release from Arsenal in June and is ready to fight for first-team opportunities.
Meade will join up with Kristian O’Leary, who manages Under-21 affairs at Swansea, but the starlet already has his eyes fixed firmly on Laudrup’s first team.
"My aim is to start impressing in the Under-21s and hopefully give [manager] Michael Laudrup another option at left-back for the first team," said the left-back.
"He was a great player, and the chance to learn from him is a massive opportunity for me.
"And he is not afraid to give youngsters a chance to prove themselves either."
Meade joined Arsenal in 2004 and made his debut when he came off the bench in October’s 7-5 victory over Reading in the Capital One Cup.
And the youngster, who also boasts Champions League pedigree, believes the switch to south Wales will suit his game.
"I've been at Arsenal since I was 11, so to come to Swansea was the perfect move for me in terms of style," said Meade.
"Swansea are a growing club and they've come from League Two by passing their way out of the divisions.
"I think everyone has been very impressed by what they have achieved in the Premier League, and it's great to be a part of the club."
