I'm in trouble now deadline day has been and gone, says Seb Brown

Brown: As well as being a keeper, he is studying at Roehampton University

I must confess that I am feeling a bit nervous at the moment but it's nothing to do with how AFC Wimbledon are adapting to life in League Two.

I'm entering the crucial final year of my sports science degree at Roehampton and the prospect of meeting my university supervisor next month is on my mind.

The lectures start in September and I was supposed to have cracked on with my dissertation topic but that's been put on the back burner.

It's going to be a bit awkward because the last time we spoke, he told me I had to sort it out by the end of the summer.

To be honest, I might be more worried facing him than my AFC Wimbledon manager, Terry Brown!

When it comes to organising my studies I am not the best.

I tend to leave it all to the last minute but I can't afford to do that this year.

The good thing is the long coach trips to away games throughout the season will give me a really good chance to catch up.

I am surprised more players don't do these courses that the Professional Footballers' Association provide.

They offer a lot of things and can be fully funded, like mine, and there is help to pay for your books.

I used to get a bit of stick from my team-mates. They would say, "no wonder you're a student, you wear the same dodgy gear!"

But we have a pretty intelligent squad on and off the pitch and everyone lets me get on with it.

My grades are good - at the moment I am heading for a first but this is the year that will make or break it.

The crux of my course would help qualify me to become a fitness coach or strength and conditioning coach if I wanted in the future but the part I like most has been the sports psychology.

It has certainly come in handy during the first few weeks of the season.

Our opening day defeat against Bristol Rovers was live on Sky and I was told by my mates that the commentators were killing me over how we conceded the first goal.

However, I am a strong character and to be honest I was happy with my performance that day and the games we have played in since.

People were getting a bit edgy after we started the season with defeats against Crawley Town in the League Cup and Bristol Rovers.

But the Dagenham victory on Saturday calmed a few nerves and reassured everyone that we can hold our own in the division as we showed with another 2-0 win at Plymouth on Tuesday, courtesy of two goals from Jack Midson.

Now we want to break our home duck against Hereford tomorrow because you don't want to get stuck in one of those runs where people say they're not winning on their own ground.

We're just hoping the secretary hasn't jinxed it, though, because he told us Hereford are coming without a goal or a point in their last two games.

But the boys are buzzing and are confident we can win the game.
