A "heartbroken" Arsenal supporter began sobbing as he spoke to club legend Ian Wright during a live radio call-in show on Sunday.

Former Arsenal star Wright was in the BBC 5 Live studios for their 606 call-in show when a Gunners fan named Khalid rang in and struggled to contain his emotions just hours after watching Arsene Wenger's side lose 2-1 away to Brighton.

The supporter began sobbing live on air prompting Wright to admit he felt uncomfortable listening to the fan's show of emotions.

"It was a horrible, horrible atmosphere to be involved in," the fan named Khalid told host Kelly Cates.

"It was very toxic at times. A few fights broke out on the stands and it's just really unfortunate.

"It's just heartbreaking to witness a team I've supported all my life to be absolutely... when you look at the players 1-11 they don't know what it means to put that red and white jersey on and it's just unfortunate that they don't have the heart and they don't have the desire and the passion to play like what's expected of them at Arsenal Football Club.

"You could almost sense... on Thursday night I was at the Man City game as well where the stadium was empty and you felt there was a change that needs to happen... something needs to happen because it can't go on much longer like this."

He added: "It's just absolutely heartbreaking. I'm just heartbroken. To be witnessing my team just capitulate and fall apart the way they are and all credit to Brighton you've got to take your hat off to them.

"We're low on confidence and they did a job on us. In the first half they could have been three or four goals up and it's just unfortunate. It's really sad. It's really, really sad to witness this from an Arsenal team you know."
