Harry Kane has been awarded Tottenham’s second goal in their 2-1 win over Stoke at the weekend, after it had initially been awarded to teammate Christian Eriksen.

Kane claimed the ball clipped his shoulder on the way into Jack Butland’s net at Bet365 Stadium on Saturday and, following an appeal from the club, has been awarded his 25th goal of the season.

The England international is in a race to claim a hat-trick of Premier League Golden Boots, and now sits four shy of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, though Kane has a game in hand to close the gap on the Egyptian.

"Harry Kane has been awarded Tottenham’s second goal in their 2-1 win against Stoke City on Saturday, after the club and player successfully appealed to the Premier League’s Goal Accreditation Appeals Panel," a statement read.

"The goal had originally been awarded on the day to Christian Eriksen, but after taking the player’s testimony into account and reviewing the match footage, a three-person panel agreed that the final touch on the ball belonged to Kane.

"Kane now has 25 Premier League goals in 2017/18."

The Spurs talisman has form when it comes to chasing down Golden Boot rivals. In winning his second top scorer award last season, the 24-year-old scored eight goals in the final three League games of the season to pip then-Everton striker Romelu Lukaku to top spot.

In winning the 2016/17 award Kane scored 29 goals, Salah’s current total, meaning he will have to bag a career-high tally of Premier League goals in a season to make it three from three.
