Fitz Hall wants to prove his fitness to Gianfranco Zola in a bid to earn a new contact at Watford.

Hall was released at the end of last season but re-signed on a short-term deal last week following a spate of defensive injuries at Vicarage Road.

The centre-back has been training with the club since the summer and is now eager to prove his worth after agreeing a one-month deal.

“I would love to extend the contract,” said the 32-year-old Hall, who could feature against Yeovil this weekend. “At the moment I am just concentrating on staying fit. If I get the chance, I will try to take it and repay the faith the management have put in me.

“The opportunity to sign a short-term deal came up and I was delighted. I am just taking each game as it comes and hopefully I can get some minutes. I want to get on the pitch first and foremost and then take it from there. I am hoping for a chance to show what I can do.

“I do feel I am a leader, and I can bring something to the team.”
