Granit Xhaka believes he is playing for the best team possible as he prepares to join up with the Arsenal squad for pre-season training.

The Swiss international midfielder, who joined Arsenal in a £35million deal in May, is currently training with Kosovan side FC Prishtina as he looks to maintain fitness. Xhaka’s family are Kosovo Albanians and moved to Switzerland shortly before he and his brother Taulant were born.

Xhaka’s arrival in Kosovo has not gone unnoticed, with the 23-year-old finding himself followed by reporters and fans wherever he goes.

When asked why he had chosen to move to Arsenal Xhaka’s response was unequivocal: “They are the best team in the world,” he told reporters.

Arsenal’s third most expensive signing in their history is expected to return in the coming fortnight after a post-Euro 2016 holiday.

Though Switzerland disappointed at the tournament, winning just one of their games on their way to a round of 16 exit at the hands of Poland, Xhaka will arrive in London with his reputation burgeoned after a string of commanding displays in midfield.
