Liverpool's Champions League Group E rivals Genk and Red Bull Salzburg go head to head in Belgium tonight.

The holders and Napoli - who face off at Anfield - remain strong favourites to progress through to the last 16, but Salzburg can still reach the knockout phase.

Jesse Marsch's Austrian champions have to beat Genk in order to take things to the final round of games - anything less will seal qualification for the two heavyweights above. A draw would clinch a spot in the Europa League.

For their opponents, entry into Europe's secondary club competition is all that there is left to fight for.

Genk - ninth in the Belgian top-flight - have claimed just one point to date in four Group E fixtures, conceding 12 times along the way.

Prediction: Genk 0-2 Red Bull Salzburg

Genk were embarrassed in the first fixture between these two sides on matchday one, losing 6-2 at Red Bull Arena.

Since then, they managed to hold Napoli to a goalless draw before suffering back-to-back defeats to Liverpool.

The potential absence of prolific young striker Erling Braut Haaland - who scored a trademark hat-trick against Genk in September - is a blow to Salzburg, but they should still have enough to seal a comfortable win ahead of the visit of Jurgen Klopp's Reds on matchday six.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

That 6-2 thrashing in September was the first-ever meeting between these two sides.

Norwegian teenager Haaland - the son of Alf-Inge Haaland who has been strongly linked with Manchester United - bagged a treble on his Champions League debut and there were also goals for Hwang Hee-chan, Dominik Szoboszlai and Andreas Ulmer.
