Gabriel Jesus has signed a two-year contract extension with Manchester City.
Jesus, who has struck 24 goals in 53 games since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium in January 2017, extends his stay at the club until 2023.
The striker highlighted the presence of manager Pep Guardiola as a key factor in his decision to sign fresh terms, describing his move to the blue half of Manchester as “the best decision I’ve made in my life.”
“Pep had an important role in my signing, but also the club," Jesus said. "City is a huge club and it is getting bigger and bigger so I just want to say thanks for everything. I hope that I can keep making the fans happy.”
Jesus signed for City in the summer of 2016 but remained at Palmeiras for the remainder of the year to help the club win the Brazilian league title. Following his arrival in the Premier League the 21-year-old immediately set about challenging Sergio Aguero for a place in the first-team.
His club form saw him selected to lead the line for Brazil at the 2018 World Cup in Russia ahead of Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino.
