Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri has accused Aboubakar Kamara of disrespecting the club after refusing to the give the ball to Aleskandar Mitrovic for a late penalty at Craven Cottage.

Chasing just a second home win of the season against Huddersfield, Fulham were awarded a penalty with 10 minutes of the match remaining when Chris Löwe handled the ball inside his own box.

Kamara insisted on taking the spot kick despite most of his teammates strongly suggesting otherwise – with his poor effort comfortably kept out by Jonas Lössl.

Mitrovic, Fulham’s usual penalty taker, spared his teammate’s blushes with a stoppage time winner but a vital three points is unlikely to spare Kamara the wrath of his furious manager, who wanted to “kill” his player for his behaviour.

"I said to Aboubakar Kamara to leave the ball to Aleksandar Mitrovic, he is the man who shoots the penalties,” Ranieri told BBC Sport. “It is unbelievable, he did not respect me, the club, the team and crowd. I spoke with him, it is not right.

"I wanted to kill him, that is normal when one man takes a ball, only because he scored the last penalty (against Manchester United). It should be Mitrovic. That is it.”

Ranieri appeared equally furious with Kamara’s attitude post-match, revealing the forward did not apologise to his teammates or his manager when back in the dressing room.

“He did not apologise. It was impossible to speak to this man. He doesn’t understand the reason. It is the first time in my life.”

Fulham’s win moves them up to 18th, one point behind Southampton in 17th.
