Fernandinho believes Manchester City have proved they can beat anyone after humbling Premier League leaders Arsenal 6-3 at the Etihad on Saturday.

The Brazilian hit his first goals since completing a £30million move from Shakhtar Donetsk in a man of the match performance that helped City beat the Gunners and close to within three points of Arsene Wenger’s pace-setters.

And Fernandinho hailed his team’s relentless performance before audaciously claiming they are a match for any side.

"I am really happy to score twice but it is not just about the goals, (it's about) the performance of the team,” he said.

"We showed we are a great team, a very good team. We showed we can beat any team. We showed very good football. The performance was incredible.

"It was important, this result, because we keep a short distance between the leader of the Premier League and us.

"I think it is very important for us because we want to be there at the top of the table."
