Erling Haaland expects future to be sorted soon after being ‘pressed’ by Borussia Dortmund into decision

Erling Haaland has told Borussia Dortmund to expect a decision on his future soon after being “pressed” over his next move.

The German club have reportedly offered a bumper new contract to the striker, to ward off interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City - with a release clause of £63million due to come into effect this year.

Haaland, 21, hinted on Friday night that he would prefer to take his time over his decision, but that Borussia’s insistence will lead to a more imminent update.

“The last six months I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Dortmund, but now the club has started to press me into making a decision,” he told Norway’s Viaplay.

“All I want to do is play football. But they press me ... about my future, so that means I have to make a decision soon.

“That is what they want. It means things will happen now.”

Haaland scored his 20th and 21st goals of the season in the 5-1 win over Freiburg on Friday, cutting Bayern Munich’s lead atop the Bundesliga to three points ahead of their trip to Koln.

“We are in the middle of a difficult period, with a lot of games,” Haaland added. “I have said from the beginning that I want to focus on football, because that is when I am at my best. But I can't do that now.”
