Egypt XI vs Morocco: Predicted lineup, confirmed team news, injury and Covid latest for AFCON tie

Carlos Queiroz will be hoping his Egypt stars recover from their gruelling last-16 win over Ivory Coast ahead of Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations clash with Morocco.

An eighth AFCON crown is in the Pharaohs’ sights after the penalty shootout win over the Ivorians, which followed 120 long, goalless minutes of tense knockout action.

Goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy came off injured during the game and will undergo further tests on a hamstring strain ahead of the quarter-final in Yaounde.

Hamdi Fathi is another doubt having been forced off against Ivory Coast. Aston Villa midfielder Trezeguet may hope to get the nod in his place to improve Egypt’s lacklustre attack that has registered just two goals all competition.

With that in mind, Mostafa Mohamed is hoping to keep his place up front with Mohamed Sherif ready to step in having been substituted on for extra-time on Wednesday.

Predicted Egypt XI: Abou Gabal; Kamal, Hegazy, Abdelmonem, Fattoh; Elneny, Fahti, Al-Sulaya; Salah, Marmoush, Mohamed.
