Daley Blind is feeling "fine" after a worrying incident that occurred during a pre-season friendly against Hertha Berlin, Ajax coach Erik ten Hag has confirmed.

Reports suggested that the former Manchester United defender had collapsed late in the second half during Tuesday night's contest at the Johan Cruyff Arena before being substituted.

Blind was previously diagnosed with heart muscle inflammation in December 2019 after complaining of dizziness during a Champions League tie against Valencia and was subsequently fitted with a subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), a device which monitors heart rhythm, detects irregular heartbeats and can shock the heart back into a normal rhythm.

"His IDC went off," Ajax boss Ten Hag told Dutch TV channel Ziggo Sport after the match, which his side won 1-0 thanks to a solitary 12th-minute goal from Zakaria Labyad.

"After that it went okay again. He is doing well, he feels good and has no complaints.

"He has changed and feels fine. Whether he will train again tomorrow?

"We will be conducting research and waiting to see what the results are, and from there we will make decisions.”

Blind - son of former Netherlands boss Danny Blind - returned to action following his heart procedure in February and has made a total of 234 appearances across two spells at Ajax split by a four-year stint at Manchester United between 2010-14, winning five Eredivisie titles.

He has also earned 69 senior international caps for the Netherlands.
