Crystal Palace will be without captain Luka Milivojevic for three matches after losing their appeal against his red card at Wolves.

Milivojevic was sent off for a challenge on Joao Moutinho in Friday’s 2-0 defeat at Molineux.

Palace manager Roy Hodgson said a ban would be a “gross injustice” but the three-game suspension has been upheld by the FA.

It means Milivojevic will miss games against Leeds, Burnley and Newcastle, and will be out for the whole of November.

Milivojevic had just won back his place in the Palace team after starting the first five Premier League games of the season on the bench.

The 29-year-old Serbian has found himself behind Jairo Riedewald, James McArthur and James McCarthy in the pecking order at Selhurst Park but was back in the team against Fulham and Wolves.

Speaking after the Wolves game, Hodgson said: “To get three games for that would be a gross injustice and it will round off a very disappointing evening for us because we lost the game.”
