Crystal Palace inspired by rivals’ shock draw on the road

Tony Pulis has challenged Crystal Palace to take a leaf out of Fulham’s book by coming away with at least a point from tonight’s trip to Goodison Park.

The showdown with Everton will be the last chance for the Eagles to pick up a result at the home of one of the Premier League’s top-six sides after a series of narrow defeats.

Only October’s 3-1 defeat by Liverpool at Anfield has seen Palace completely outplayed and Pulis believes bottom-of-the-table Fulham’s draw at Manchester United on Sunday can act as inspiration to his players.

“It would be nice to [come away with something]. It’s difficult. We know we go to Goodison Park with the odds stacked against us,” he said.

“They have got bigger budgets, a bigger ground and they have been in the Premier League for years. They have got everything in their favour. We are massive underdogs but we will give it the best we can.”

Pulis added: “The way Fulham defended at times against United was exceptional. Irrespective of what people say, they have ended up getting a point. If we can grind out results like that, we will be very pleased.”

After new signings Tom Ince and Joe Ledley scored on their debuts against West Brom on Saturday, Pulis must decide whether to stick with the same team tonight. Norwegian defender Jonathan Parr could come in at left-back, which may allow Wales international Ledley to move into his preferred midfield position in place of Yannick Bolasie.

Pulis has warned Glenn Murray that he will have to wait to be in contention for the starting XI, despite the striker’s 18-minute cameo against West Brom on his return from long-term injury,

He added: “Glenn will be a good sub for us for a few weeks. I don’t see him starting. He needs a couple more weeks. We’re just very pleased to have him on board and part of it.”
