Crystal Palace face fight to keep Yannick Bolasie

Crystal Palace are facing a battle to keep another of their young stars.

Yannick Bolasie has been spoken about in some circles as an even better talent than Wilfried Zaha, having made a huge impression since joining from Bristol City last year.

Bolasie, who usually plays as a winger, has also been instrumental this term and is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs.

Wigan and Stoke, who were given a close view of the 23-year-old’s talent when they played Palace in the third-round FA Cup tie at Selhurst Park on Saturday, are considering whether to offer £2m.

Newcastle and Tottenham are also monitoring the situation, although Palace do not want to see another key player leave. Bolasie will still have two years left on his contract at the end of the season, but that is unlikely to put the interested parties off.

Meanwhile, Blackburn are continuing to pursue Blackpool boss Michael Appleton as their manager, even though it is only two month since he succeeded Ian Holloway, following his move to Selhurst Park.

Blackburn made an official approach for Appleton last night as a replacement for Henning Berg, who they sacked after just 57 days in charge.

It was reported this morning that Blackpool had rejected the request but Blackburn managing director Derek Shaw has since intimated that discussions remain ongoing.
