Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha has done more than enough to warrant a place in the England squad next year, according to his manager Alan Pardew.

Zaha was overlooked in favour of his team-mate Andros Townsend for interim manager Gareth Southgate’s squad to take on Scotland and Spain and the 24-year-old has not featured for England since August 2013.

The winger has enjoyed a bright start to the season at Palace and was the subject of a £12million summer bid from Tottenham.

It has been reported that Zaha is considering switching his international allegiance to Ivory Coast but Pardew has urged his charge to continue proving his case for England, whose next match comes in late March in Germany.

“I think Wilf hopes England come for him,” he said.

“I think he has done more than enough to warrant a call to England this season, even with the run we have been on.

“I can understand his frustration a little bit. He feels he perhaps deserves another chance. I do not think there are many players who can beat players quite like he can.

“His defensive work, his assists are starting to stack up, and his commitment to our team. So the ball is not in Wilf's court. It is in England's court.”
