Alan Pardew is unlikely to face disciplinary action from the Football Association for his criticism of referee Mark Clattenburg.

Pardew was unhappy that Clattenburg sent off Dwight Gayle for two yellow cards as Crystal Palace were beaten 3-1 by West Ham on Saturday.

Palace supporters sang “Mark Clattenburg, it’s all about you” and Pardew said: “I thought the fans had it just about right about Mark.”

He added: “Before the game we are not allowed to say anything about the referee. But I do not think there is a problem criticising refs after a game.

“I am not saying he was biased. I am saying that particular decision was slightly rash on his part, and I think that is fair comment. I am in a good position as a professional manager to make that call after a game, and do not see a problem in that - and nor should the FA.”
