Ready: Joel Ward hopes for a repeat scoreline on Saturday

Crystal Palace defender Joel Ward has warned Chelsea his side are ready to hand them a title setback for a second successive season.

Palace take on the unbeaten League leaders at Selhurst Park on Saturday, having beaten them 1-0 in the corresponding fixture last season.

Then under Tony Pulis, the Eagles were in the midst of a winning run towards the back end of last season, when John Terry inadvertently headed Palace's winner in the second-half.

Ward was part of a sturdy backline which kept the title-chasers at bay in April and the 24-year-old believes a repeat scoreline is possible on Saturday.

Ward said: “We proved it last year, we held our own. I think we were unfortunate at the start of this season against Arsenal so hopefully we can replicate the same form we did last year against Chelsea and take a share of the points, if not all of them.”
