Five wins: Chris Ramsey believes QPR need a minimum of 37 points

Chris Ramsey believes five more victories will keep QPR in the Premier League.

The Rangers boss believes 37 points could be enough to keep the Loftus Road club in the top flight, but admitted QPR do not have "the luxury" of setting a specific survival target.

Rangers host Arsenal on Wednesday night, with Ramsey maintaining there is more pressure at the bottom of the table than the top.

Ramsey has backed QPR to pull off their great escape, despite only sitting outside the relegation zone on goal difference ahead of the Premier League's midweek action.

"To be honest with you I very rarely look at the table," said Ramsey. "Whatever the other teams do will be irrelevant.

"We know that if we can get four or five wins that we're going to be there right until the end.

"The target is to win every game that we can.

"I don't think we have the luxury of setting a specific target.

Ramsey is yet to select a captain to replace Joey Barton, suspended after his red card for aiming a blow to Tom Huddlestone's groin in QPR's defeat to Hull.

However, the Rangers boss hinted he has several candidates in mind to fill the role against Arsenal.

Ramsey also tipped his squad to cope with the loss of experienced midfielder Barton, especially given the attacking riches the Gunners will bring to Loftus Road.

"I haven't selected a captain yet," said Ramsey. "I think there's one or two (who can captain the side).

"The senior players have impressed me, but the captaincy in football is not like it is in other sports. It's important to a point but it's about each individual doing their job.

"It's disappointing to lose him because Joey is a wholehearted player who has been involved since we've come on board.

"He's always going to be a big loss but we've got Sandro and maybe Nedum (Onuoha) and (Mauricio) Isla back in contention.

"Joey is a loss but we have to use the squad as best we can and make sure everyone does their part."
