Sevilla director of football Joaquín Caparrós claims Alvaro Morata wants to join the club this month but admits agreeing a deal with Chelsea will be “very complicated.”

Reports in Spain on Tuesday claimed Morata’s agent Juanma Lopez travelled to Seville to hold talks with the La Liga side over a January move.

Morata missed Tuesday's EFL Cup semi-final first leg defeat to Tottenham due to a knee injury but his future at Stamford Bridge remains under scrutiny having struggled during most of his time in west London.

Sevilla are hoping to mount a serious title challenge this term and want to bring in Morata to strengthen their options in attack.

“We are interested in Morata but it is a very, very complicated operation,” Capparos told the club’s own media outlet.

“The player may want to come here over other options but the negotiations with Chelsea will be very complicated.”

Marca claim Morata believes Sevilla is the perfect destination to rebuild his career. The Andalusian side are keen on a loan deal for the Spain international with the striker’s agent reportedly scheduled to meet with Chelsea officials this week.
