Spanish striker Alvaro Morata says he wants to spend the rest of his career at Atletico Madrid.

The 26-year-old left Chelsea to join the Spanish club on an 18-month loan deal in January, with Atleti holding an option to make that deal permanent.

Following the announcement of Antoine Griezmann’s decision to leave Madrid this summer, and with Diego Costa’s disciplinary problems derailing his latest stint at the club, it has been reported that Atletico will look to exercise that option sooner rather than later.

With Chelsea currently unable to sign players due to a transfer ban, it has been suggested that several high-profile loanees such as Kurt Zouma (Everton), Michy Batshuayi (Crystal Palace) and Tiemoue Bakayoko (AC Milan) could be given chances in the first-team squad at Stamford Bridge next season.

However, even in those desperate circumstances, Morata made it clear where he sees his future.

“What is clear is what I want, I want to be here,” Morata said. “I will do everything possible to continue playing here.

“I did everything in my power to come, and I will do everything in my power to stay.

“I do not think of going anywhere, just being here. I'm happy here, and I want to be here all the years that I have left.”
